Snow nets for the protection against avalanches are flexible structures that are installed at the top of avalanche corridors. Serving the purpose of retention obstacles, these structures help in preventing the snowpack from coming loose.
The snow nets are designed to be installed on slopes ranging from 70 to 120%. Consisting of steel wire nets held in place by braced posts. The base of the netting is fixed to the ground by means of anchorings.
In the case of powder snow, the snow fences are doubled up with a double twisted wire mesh. The posts are articulated at base point in order to adapt to the slope and optimize stresses induced by the snowpack. The snow fences are suitable for snow heights ranging from 2 to 5 meters (French norm F26 to F56; Swiss Guidelines Dk 2 to Dk 5).
Steel nets constitute a guarantee for optimal blending of the snow fences in the landscape. Thanks to their lightweight, the fences are easy to install and require minimal maintenance once installed.
These snow fences for the protection of avalanches should preferably be installed on rocky slopes. The flexible nature of these fences enables them to absorb low energy rock fall. The entire range is sized according to the French NFP 95-304 standard or in compliance with the Swiss WSL/FNP directives.
These snow fences for the protection of avalanches have been in use for many years. Their performance is demonstrated each winter, making them the standard to go by in terms of protection against avalanches.
