Wire nets

These must be used when the unstable rock masses are too great to be held by netting.

They may be used for:

• passive protection: nets fitted and anchored directly to the rock wall,
• active protection: rockfall screens or barriers.

There are two main models that comply with the future European standard, which requires manufacturers to specify the slip and opening values of crossing pieces.

• standard model with cadmium-coated steel crossing pieces,
• reinforced model with high-resistance crossing pieces.
