Barrier net

This type of net consists of ANONET rings and is used as an "anti-slide" barrier in torrents. This highly effective technique is used to block objects such as rocks or trees moving down-river or during snowmelt periods. Solid material is intercepted but water can continue to flow, thus avoiding pressure on the structure.

In situations where there is a major risk, it may be advisable to combine a deflector net higher upstream to limit the energy involved and, further downstream, a barrier net to intercept the material.

Sometimes, the shape of the side walls means that side supports are not necessary.

They may be:

• fixed by perimeter anchors,
• held only at the top and left loose. This arrangement is used in situations where a considerable amount of energy is involved.
